From 1st to 4th August, our independent Sri Lankan street food company had the pleasure of joining the vibrant community at Chepstow for one of the most unique and meaningful festivals around – The Green Gathering.
Green Gathering isn’t just a festival for us; it’s a celebration of everything we believe in—sustainability, creativity, and community. Powered entirely by sun, wind, and the collective energy of its attendees, this non-profit, off-grid event offered four days of low-impact living, filled with music, art, and the spirit of change. The festival’s intimate solar-powered stages featured a wonderful mix of emerging and legendary acts, DJs, and storytellers, creating an atmosphere that was as electric as it was eco-friendly.
For our team, Green Gathering is always a refreshing and challenging experience. We step away from our from our usual routines, turn off the electricity, and fully embrace the festival’s off-grid lifestyle. It’s a chance for us to live the values we hold dear, even when it means adjusting to a simpler way of working. There’s something deeply rewarding about cooking and serving our Sri Lankan street food in this setting, knowing that we’re part of a collective effort to reduce our impact on the planet.
But what truly makes Green Gathering special for us is the people. Every year, we’re amazed by the warmth, friendliness, and eco-consciousness of the festival-goers who stop by our stall. It’s a joy to share our food with such a passionate community, and we always leave feeling inspired by the conversations, connections, and shared experiences.
As we say goodbye to another year at Green Gathering, we’re already looking forward to the next one. The festival’s spirit of sustainability, creativity, and community is something we carry with us long after the tents have been packed away.
